  1. College scholarship opportunities, both athletic and non athletic, can be researched at reputable sites such as www.collegeboard.com

  2. School’s academic and athletic programs can be researched via your counseling office, college web sites, and comprehensive sites such as www.usnews.com.

  3. At Amazon there are reference textbooks to help in your search (e.g. 2006 College Handbook from the College Board, Peterson's College SearchFiske Guide to Colleges 2006, plus a variety of college guides). 

  4. The following NCAA sites list Div 1, 2, 3 schools by school, by conference, and region of the country, plus regional polls of respective rankings.  For women: http://www2.ncaa.org/sports/fall/soccer/womens/index.html, and for men: http://www2.ncaa.org/sports/fall/soccer/mens/index.html.

  5. This site provides summaries of college information from a database of 80,000 students who provide a somewhat different slant on the information:  www.campusdirt.com

  6. The Fiske Guide’s Site provides a 30-question general survey to help students start thinking through the college-selection process: www.fiskeguide.com/belong.html.

  7. The Sport Source – College Soccer Guide 1-800-862-3092
    www.thesportsource.com  They publish new books every year with up-to-date data for individual men’s and women’s college programs including a thumbnail sketch of academics plus soccer information about style of play the coach prefers, number of graduating seniors, and other specific highlights of the program.  Each book is approximately 2 inches thick and costs approximately $35.

  8. Soccer America – 1-800-997-6223.  They publish the Soccer America magazine plus  www.socceramerica.com/magazine/collegeGuide.asp, which provides information similar to the Sport Source.

  9. Make the Team, by Avi Stopper, is an excellent workbook on self-recruitment which sells for less than $20 and explains what you should be doing in step-by-step manner with examples: www.SelfRecruiting.com

  10. www.ncaasports.com/soccer/mens  The men’s soccer section of the NCAA with current news about men’s soccer programs throughout the country.

  11. www.ncaasports.com/soccer/womens  The women’s soccer section of the NCAA with current news about women’s soccer programs throughout the country.

  12. www.ncaaclearinghouse.net/NCAA/common/index.html This site provides the latest rules on student athlete eligibility.  Any student athlete who wishes to play in freshman year at a D1 or D2 college must register with the NCAA Clearinghouse.
