Bay Oaks Soccer Names New Director of Coaching
Glenn Van Straatum has been named to become the new Director of coaching for the Bay Oaks soccer club effective May1 2008. Longtime DOC for Bay Oaks Andy Bonchonsky is moving on to run the San Tan Soccer Club in Chandler, Arizona. Glenn has been an Assistant Director of Coaching for Bay Oaks the last three years as well as serving as Head Coach for the California Victory of the USL last season. Glenn joins the other Bay Oaks assistant director Peter Hayton in assuming a new role with the club. Peter has been named as the Technical Director for Bay Oaks.
The Bay Oaks are very excited about this transition as these two gentleman have been a part of the club for several years now and their dedication to growing the club and improving the play of our teams is strong.
"I am very excited to be named the Director of Coaching for Bay Oaks. Over the last three years we have seen some great growth in our club and I am looking forward to continuing that in the coming years. Peter and are very happy to work together to grow the Bay Oaks program." said Glenn Van Straatum upon learning of the appointment.
"These two gentlemen have worked hand in hand with Andy Bonchonsky to shape and mold the program and we look forward to this seamless transition of leadership as a tremendous way to improve our club each year going forward. We have top talent looking over our program and the players and parents of Bay Oaks will see the rewards of their leadership in the coming years." said Bay Oaks President Kevin Rockwell.
In addition Bay Oaks has named current U14 Girls coach Jon Nishimoto to become a new assistant director for Bay Oaks this season. Jon will work under Glenn and Peter to help train coaches and work with players.
